Gabrielle Rainer Istvanffy was a Hungarian painter best known for her sensitive and charming depictions of dogs and cats. Born in Budapest in 1877, she studied with the Hungarian painters Tivadar (Theodor) Zemplényi, Antal Neogrády, and Hegedűs. She remained active in Budapest throughout her career.
Rainer Istvanffy devoted much of her artistic career to animal subjects, particularly domestic dogs and cats.
